Working Group
The Education Working Group is focused on raising awareness and educating the public about food waste. We help communicate the efforts of the other working groups and organizations, create resources and educational materials, share events related to food waste, and manage this website as a resource hub for all things food waste related!
Ongoing Effort
- Communicate and promote the efforts of the Food Waste Solutions Working Groups and our partner organizations in Western North Carolina.
- Share existing resources to educate the public about food waste reduction.
- Create new resources and guides related to food waste related guides for the community.
- Engage with the community through social media and use their feedback to guide how we best focus our efforts.
- Manage this website as a resource hub for topics related food waste reduction efforts in Western North Carolina.
What We’re Working on Now
- Collaborating with the City of Asheville and UNC Asheville to organize and launch an ongoing social media campaign.
- Collecting article submissions to launch and maintain a community blog.
- Supporting the development of a Food Waste Proclamation for the City of Asheville.
- Peparing for Food Waste Reduction Month in April.
- Building content and resources for this website.
Our Long-Term Goals
- Host webinars, courses, and other education and engagement events for the community.
- Develop a printed resource guide for the local community.
- Build more robust and engaging content for this website such as videos, courses, infographics, and more.
- Consider plans for the next Food Waste Solutions Summit and gauge community interest.
- Develop educational content for schools and parents.
